Now this kind of situation may seem like something that wouldn't really impact me personally, but it's not necessarily the situation that affects me, it's the problems that cause the situation.
Conflict over natural resources and religion happen all over the globe and they can do things like change what kind of information I see on the news. It's like in the "Wedding Rehearsal Situation" when it was said that our views on Middle Eastern people are changed because of the stories we see on the news. The U.S. is pretty close to Israel in a foreign affairs way so when people in Israel share their opinions on Palestine, saying how bad they think they are because of religious differences and conflict over natural resources over there, the U.S. hears this and focuses on that bad part in the news. It also doesn't help with the whole 9/11 situation which already gave the U.S. a bad impression of Muslim people. If I didn't know any better, I would probably believe all that stuff and form a bad opinion on all Muslim people like many other people in the U.S. A video I watched in class however showed me that people over there in the Middle East aren't as bad as the modern media makes them out to be.
Now religious conflict does't just affect me in ways that were said above. That can happen to my life directly. It's not too common but I've seen others and myself get into small debates over religious differences. Friends might try to explain to me why they believe what they believe and try to convince me or others that that's what is right. Of course I, or said others, might explain a little about what we believe and why we believe it to be true. I've seen it sometime reach a point where it's just an argument and no longer just a debate, but I try not to let it escalate to that point.
It's pretty crazy that things like this seem like such small matters compared to other problems the world is facing can have such a big impact on my life.
